South Africa is one country that host big and entertaining events, but what is it that sustains those events? Events on their own can never be a success but they need good PR and Marketing to be sustainable. The importance of good PR and Marketing is that the event can be easily accessible to the target audience and can also be presented in an appealing way to the target audience. The All Weekend Vaal Beach Party is one of the successful events in the South African calendar.

The event is hosted by Masia Sound Productions (MSP), with the intentions  of celebrating or welcoming Spring in style. The 4th annual Vaal beach party 2013 promises to be much more entertaining with performances by DJ Black Coffee (House DJ), Brickz (Kwaito artist), Ralph Gum (International DJ) and other well known DJ's, Singers, Performers, and Comedians.

The 4th annual Vaal beach party is a 3 day event that starts on the 29th August 2013, with a comedy show featuring 6 best SA comedians and it will continue to the main event on the 31st August 2013 at 12:00pm and it will end at 6am 1st September 2013. The venue of the event is at the Dick Fourie Cricket Stadium (Vereeniging) and tickets are sold at Shoprite, Checkers, Computicket at R120, Vip R350 and Vvip R650. As the Vaal beach party is going to it's 4th year of existence, would you say good PR and Marketing was implemented to the event? Keep in mind that PR and Marketing are the to make the event appealing, vibrant, new, desirable, interesting and entertaining. If  you say the Vaal beach party is entertaining and appealing then will have to agree that good PR and Marketing was implemented, but if you say the event is not interesting and it has not reached the qualities of a good event,  then the PR and Marketing failed us the target audience. Kindly browse the website http://www.vaalbeachparty.co.za and in this blog, do comment and tell whether the PR and Marketing to the event was good or bad.

  1. I have to say that the PR and Marketing did or are doing an excellent job. Many people know about the event. If an event manages to get so many artists to perform then the PR was good. I'm even thinking of going to the event.

  2. i don't really think that the PR marketing put in place by the event organires is doing justice to the event, i mean with the line up that the event has it's really sad that i'm only hearing about it just now and thought i just look it up... The media relations and publicity the have in place really doesn't reall work. And as for the advertising? Everyone that likes and loves to celebrate the begining of spring should know about it with just weeks to the event.

  5. The 4th annual vaal beach party has took over at some point whereby people would have though, it highly recognised due its origins and good marketing skills and advertising. It has succeed in these past 4 years and with a difference improving each and every year. The advertising is good because they tackling people via social networks, Television and Radios with that many people have information concerning the event.

  6. Interesting. Let's keep in mind that this is a controversial issue. We will address our opinions, and views till we find a common ground.

@Charmaine am glad that you like the good work by the PR and Marketing field. So in your words would you say that the event has reached it's target goals? E.g. Reaching their target audience?

@Boitumelo thanks for your views. Let say you were given a chance to be part of the PR and Marketing of the Vaal Beach Party. What contribution would you bring?

@Kgothatso so you think the PR and Marketing has what it takes to attract double the number of the previous vaal party?

    1. Yes mate, the new fresh, vibrant minds can take it elswhere, because the new PR and marketing crew knows what they didn't do on de previous party,so they will know who to target and how to target the appropriate people.

  7. Surely i'm not a pr person. I dont know much about marketing and all. But as Lesego said the event has been on newspapers, mags, tV Sabc1 "Ziwaphi", social networks. Somethings are just obvious #gosh# Yes the goals are achieved. They also made me to feel like going.

  8. @Lesego good point there. Advertsing also played an important role in the sustainability of this event. So would you say that you are satisfied by the advertising of the event?

@Charmaine hahaha it seems like you are keen on the event. But it's not a waste of money I see a good time ahead.

    ReplyDelete
  12. @Lerato that is a valid point, because the organisers are giving students discoount for the event. So the marketing strategy accomodates everyone

  13. Yes, PR and Marketing did a good job because the event itself does really attract the target audiences and it's cost-effective. I personally would go to this event because of the full-package entertainment as I won't be going to different venues for this kind of entertainment. On the other hand I will be saving some money.

  14. Bifo ya'll focus on the critical Pro's and Con's of the marketing and pr. Let focus on the babes and hunks that will be present on the day. Let face it having hunks and hot babes is somehow a pr strategy. Hahaha yes thato am very keen on attending. Will you go with me?

    ReplyDelete
  15. @ Thato yeah I'm well glued to it and satisfied...
Well look its not like it will be all about partying or whatsoever but its more about socialising, meeting great people and the acknowledgement of SA's good music don't you think?
@ charm- I'm also keen of going hey only if my circumstances do allow me being present...

  16. To be honest, the marketing side of it is really not upto scratch because its for the 1st time i hear about it this year, i was wondering if it has been scrapped or not so thanks for the heads up. As for the event itself, am crusly looking forward to it hahahaha

  18. @ mankayi it isn't the 1st time I hear about it but what I can say is it didn't reach most people

    ReplyDelete
  19. @ Orateng yo comment is an eye opener. Actually when you go to an event of an artist you pay about R150, but here you just pay R120 to see many artists. So the Pr and Marketing did a goood job in yo perspective?

@Charmaine lols well it seems like it is a good event backed by good PR so hell yeah I'll go with you. Just buy me the ticket. Mmm... yeah and I like the babes part

@Lesego yeah I get your point, the event does not only accomodate the party goers, but it also attract the socialites, music gurus, fun lovers, and other individuals. Hopefully lesego you not only attracted to the beach party just to see them babes.

  20. @mankayi your point is taken to consideration, but let me scrutinise it first. Charmaine mentioned that the event is being advertised at Sabc1. So you did not see it?

@kgothatso now you confusing me, are you for the good PR or the bad PR?

    ReplyDelete
  21. True that Mr Thato Masuku, this country realy needs PR Angle for its events to prosper, there are best events in this country but Marketing and PR are the ones who make evrything possible.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Nice one Mr Mashala but what would be your comment about the vaal beach party? is the PR and Marketing on point or it's just sucks?

    ReplyDelete
  23. The PR and Marketing strategy is point.

    ReplyDelete
  24. hahaha but steven you fail to explain how. Yes it rocks but how and why does it rock? What features from the event that makes the PR and Marketing good?

    ReplyDelete
  25. yeah its on point, its good,if it was bad the wouldnt even been no second, third and now forth party

    ReplyDelete
  26. Good Sabelo, so now would you confidently say that Mzansi has good and Potential Public relations and Mrketing professionals?

    ReplyDelete
  27. yoh im so out of touch with my social life, didnt even know there was a beach party... nice one thou

    ReplyDelete
  28. Looks mighty fun, gotta get me some tickets for the mother of all beach parties of the summer before they run out!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. The is a beach party tshego and it attracts a lot of people around mzansi. So since you know a little about this event, would you say that the event it has good PR and Marketing background?

@George it promises fun and more fun. Do you think the event is a success?

    ReplyDelete
  30. PR and Marketing needs to work more through word of mouth since it has been proven to be way more effective, in so doing, then people will be more aware of it, which i will give 5 stars, but overall, i would say they killed it, big up PR and Marketing, we would like to see more pics

    ReplyDelete
  31. I get your point George I mean this is one of the biggest events in Mzansi, they should use every media tool they can to publish and advertise this event. This event is not only about fun, it is also about humanity. Celebrating the fact that we can have fun with different people from other cultures and backgrounds. So george before the event takes place next week, What is it you would like to see from the PR and Marketing from this event?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think excessive advertising via links on facebook and twitter will accelerate the word of mouth advertising aswell, an advert on popular radio stations will definately do the trick

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah that can work. Let put this on the table. We agree that the Vaal beach party is good, but with an extra effort from the PR and Marketing department, the event can go to greater heights. Right?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ofcourse with some input from the national broadcasters, as well as varsity fm's around the country

    ReplyDelete
  35. Provided that the event is publicized through social networks too such as Facebook and twitter. It can reach quite a huge number of people, provided some do not have time for television or radio, as they are frequently using the internet and social networks to access the news and other info. So I believe that marketing was implemented by knowing how to target the public through sources of media including the internet, and that makes a good PR. Hence I agree to the fact that PR and Marketing were applied to make this event exciting, enviable and interesting as there will be well-known comedians and international guests, which makes it a once in a lifetime event for some. And as it is the 4th annual event, I believe the event wouldn't have reached this far if it wasn't for the advertising, PR, and Marketingwhich draws people from all corners and coasts of mzansi, even beyond borders, through varieties of media. Keep up the good work.

  37. the only thing I see are the posters that are not even motivating me to go attend that beach party. Their marketing department must do something ai

  38. The Pr and markerting dep are not doing their job,People do not know about the event except the ones from Vaal.I never saw it on tv nor hear about it on the radio..what do you have to say about that?

    ReplyDelete
  39. mr T the hype around this event for me personally has not been felt, the pr and marketing departments could have done better as i am only hearing of it on your blog and good pr and marketing hits you, you dont have to go searching for it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @george ok that is a good idea. I think the PR and and Marketing can learn a lot from you. You have good ideas.

@goitsemang thanks for the contribution of your thoughts. And it nice you agree that the PR and marketing is pro-active. So you satisfied with everything and how it is conducted?

    ReplyDelete
  41. @sibusisiwe I can tell that you not happy and not satisfied about the event, but we are here to bring solutions and suggestions. What suggestions can you bring on the table sibusisiwe?

@thobeka thanks for your views. They are respected, dont you think the event is advertised in all media mediums just that we people are ignorant?

@sakhile thanks for your views. I like word "hype"... Yes we have to agree the is no much hype and anticipation to the event. What can be done to create hype to the event?

    ReplyDelete
  42. it is obvious that the success of the event behind it there must be Public Relations and marketing. both the two department thier role so fundamental in any field(organisation).

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well I wouldn't say I'm satisfied with everything, as there are issues that come about the event regardless of the response in numbers that the public show by attending the event. These issues don't concern PR and Marketing, so it's not debatable, as far as conduct is concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Mr T my question is why do most local promoters over hype international artists coming into the country and neglect to push the local ones, it is saddening how they never grow as a result of this can we as PR people push local first before looking abroad, as they hardly ever need the attention anyway

    ReplyDelete
  45. well i think the vaal beach party event has the best PR and Marketing and they have managed to get more people to come to the event.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Of course they were implemented, otherwise we wouldn't know about the event now would we? PR and Marketing play a vital role in events, without those two your event will go nowhere.

    ReplyDelete
  47. @themba yeah with people knowing and masses attending the event, it means the is something good the Pr and Marketing department are doing good.

@goitsemang ok but in timethe event will reach masses

    ReplyDelete
  48. @Sakhile I get you, so in the same way they creating hype for inernational events, they must create hype for local events.

@Nonki and Kea, el yeah we agree that the PR and Marketing did a good job ei because it attracts many people.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I think Pr and marketing play an imporatnt role in planning a sucessful event because it helps spreading the message wich suppose to be communicated.

    ReplyDelete
  50. @Jackie point taken. Without PR and Marketing it will be difficult for the intended message to be passed through. Nice1
